AP Images
The AP Images database is a large, multimedia database featuring content produced by the Associated Press. The bulk of the database is the image collection containing over 12.5 million images. The images range in date from the early nineteenth century to current, although the vast majority
of the images are from 2000 and newer. The images can be used for educational purposes. The database also includes graphics and an audio and text archive. The reviewer did not find the other collections as useful as the images. The user interface is functional but somewhat awkward to use because
of structure, dropdowns, and the heavy use of pop-ups. Most AP content is available on the web however quality, metadata, and credit are often lacking. The benefits of the database include all AP content stored together, new content added daily, easy searchability, as well as a powerful historical
date sort that allows users to track events through history in images, and permission to use the content for educational purposes.
