Thirteenth Fiesole Collection Development Retreat
The Fiesole Collection Development Retreat Series is an annual international meeting of high level professionals from libraries, information technology companies, content intermediaries and primary publishers all devoted to a shared future. Meetings are shaped by these two questions:
“What is the likely shape of the library of the future? And how do we build collections for it?” The retreat series began in 1999 as an off-shoot of The Charleston Conference and is dedicated to the memory of Mario Casalini of Casalini Libri who inspired the first meeting. The
group moves to a different international city each year, but returns to Fiesole (the home of Casalini Libri) every four years. This year's meeting was hosted by The National Library of Russia, St. Petersburg, and was held in that beautiful city. Following is an overview of the meeting. The
complete repository for the series including this year's papers can be found at http://www.casalini.it/retreat/.
