Wiley Digital Archives: Environmental Science and History covers material from the late eighteenth through the early twenty-first century that focuses on critical aspects of the impact of human activity on the natural world. It comprises several unique and rare archival collections from various global sources, including the Royal Botanical Gardens, UK National Archives, Commonwealth Forestry Institute, Centre for International Bioscience International (CABI), Royal Entomological Society, and Ecological Society of America.

Upon completion, this archive will contain approximately one million images of primary source material featuring data-heavy collections on deforestation, agriculture, livestock, and fisheries (food production); ecology, botany, biodiversity, and extinction: insect science; and water sources, irrigation, wetlands, and hydrology. This collection is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2023.

The database’s most significant achievement lies in the heft of the organization’s materials that form its foundation. However, there is room for improvement regarding its functionality related to its search capabilities. This resource would benefit undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and professional researchers.
