The Global Terrorism Database (GTD) is an Open Access database compiled by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) at the University of Maryland. GTD includes 170,000 domestic and global terrorist events from 1970 through 2016 garnered from open source primary and secondary literature. GTD offers a variety of features that allow researchers to identify trends and patterns in terrorist incidences.
