Its a source for tens of thousands of videos on numerous subjects. The films here are in English or one of ten other languages. Each video has an accompanying transcript, and many are close captioned.The search and browsing mechanisms in this database are easy to understand, and allow the user to find videos in numerous ways. Both a single search bar and an advanced search are available. Although both are useful search mechanisms, the former is generally more effective than the latter. There are also a number of useful browsing possibilities in this database, including a subject index, producer index, and other options. Results lists are understandable and easy to browse, and it is simple to view and navigate the individual videos found there. Pricing for this database is primarily dependent on FTE, and as a consequence can be quite variable. However, even when this variability is taken into consideration, this databases subscription cost is not excessive (at least not apparently). Potential subscribers should contact Infobase/Facts-on-File for more specific pricing. This databases contract provisions are fairly standard, and give little cause for concern. However, as with all legal agreements potential subscribers should review it carefully before committing to it. This database is a good source for videos, but it is not the only database offering a wide variety of films on numerous topics. Competitors include Kanopy and Filmakers Library Online (from Alexander Street Press). Potential subscribers to Access Video On Demand may want to consider them as well. Also, only slightly more than half of the films in this database are exclusive to it. The remaining films are available from other sources, and some are freely available online, from sites such as You Tube. Therefore, potential subscribers to this database should consider not only its cost, but whether other online sources might better meet their needs for these kinds of videos.", }
