Mobile Apps for Libraries: The DiRT on Digital Humanities Apps
Author van Arnhem notes the difficulty of finding the right tools for the particular scholarly jobs in this time of apparent plenty. Focusing on the needs of faculty researchers in the Digital Humanities, this column explores resources for finding and evaluating apps that can add to
the digital scholar’s toolbox. Attention is paid to Lisa Spiro’s Mellon Foundation-funded Digital Research Tools (DiRT) resource directory, and the usefulness arising from a quick search underlaid by a functional taxonomy that enables researchers to find reviews on tools aimed
at their research need and built for their device.
