Independent Voices

Independent Voices, a project of Reveal Digital, is a database of alternative press primary materials located in academic special collections from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. Reveal Data projects 1,000,000 pages upon completion of the database. At this time, 250,000 pages have been scanned. Such sources are not commercially published and indexed, but are “underground,” subversive materials, designed to analyze and achieve the transformative goals of the three decades represented. Uniquely funded through an alternative, “crowd funded” model, funding sources are contributing and supporting libraries who solely enjoy access to the database until costs are recovered. After funding goals are met, the database will transfer to Open Access.
