Media Education Foundation Streaming Collection (MEFDigital)

The Media Education Foundation is a well-known producer and distributor of documentary films, education resources, and other materials about the social and cultural impact of mass media in the United States. Their digital distribution arm, MEFDigital, provides a wide range of distribution and licensing options of streaming videos to libraries and institutions. MEFDigital uses multiple platforms for hosted digital distribution, such as Vimeo.com and Kanopy Streaming. MEFDigital also offers options for perpetual purchases for individual titles to be self-hosted by the institution on a secure streaming server. This review focuses on licensing, availability, delivery, and technology of the platforms, rather than content produced by the Media Education Foundation.
