Citelighter

Citelighter is a citation generator and research tool that is installed as a plug-in and is compatible with most popular internet browsers. Citelighter can be used to quickly capture quotes from the internet, or research databases, generate citations, and create notes around the researcher’s selected material. This tool also allows the researcher to manipulate and export all quotes along with the bibliography, formatted into the chosen citation style, directly into a Word document, an e-mail, or to Google Docs.

The plug-in is primarily targeted at students and researchers, but it is very appealing as a tool for librarians who teach information literacy courses. Particularly useful features for librarians are the capture tool, which saves quotes from selected text, and the ability to instantly change a bibliography to another style without opening a new project. Citelighter also integrates with Google Docs and allows multiple users, or even an entire class, to work on a project together. The most attractive feature of all is the ability to toggle the plug-in within the browser, efficiently and quickly highlighting content to be stored for later use.
