Doody’s Core Titles 2012
Doody’s Core Titles (DCT) offers cost-effective access to a list of essential medical book and software titles for health care professionals, students, and hospital administrators. Since the Brandon/Hill list was discontinued in 2004, the DCT has emerged as the gold standard for
providing medical libraries with a list of necessary titles for medical professionals and students. Endorsed by the Medical Library Association, the DCT database offers access to more than 10,000 titles available in about 121 specialty areas, including clinical medicine, nursing, allied health,
and associated basic science and health topics. The information resources are subjectively evaluated by about 200 experts, including content specialists, volunteer medical librarians, medical book wholesalers, and the publisher’s staff. While the evaluation rubric is subjective, the
DCT list helps medical librarians and hospital knowledge management consultants cost-effectively save time by prioritizing purchases of information resources according to individual budgets and needs.
