abstract = "An important EU-sponsored project aimed at bringing together multimedia collections of public and private European heritage institutions: archive, libraries, and museums. Europeana.eu contains a very large selection of documents, books, works of art, and audiovisuals. Europeana.eu is
not an archive; it is a portal that harvests metadata via OAI-PMH compliant databases throughout Europe. Once the user has performed his/her research he/she is redirected to the site, which actually holds the material.The project is also part of a number of publicly-sponsored initiatives
that aim at integrating various strands of media into coherent thematic, typological, or geographic collections (see http://www.judaica-europeana.eu/>).
The current version went online on 2008 and has been constantly updated since. As of April 2012, content is estimated at more than 2,000,000 items.",
